Xodus, Atlantis Resources Mulls Japanese Tidal Opportunities

Xodus Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Atlantis Resources to pursue the development of a tidal energy project in Japan. The ambition for this agreement is to secure funding and establish a commercially viable tidal energy demonstration project of three to eight turbines in the country. The companies visited Japan earlier this year to meet with government departments, supply chain and utility companies to promote the collaboration and join the lobbying effort for the general promotion of tidal energy as a credible future energy source in Japan.Atlantis is a global developer of

Hydro Group Completes MeyGen Contract

Hammerfest (AHH). The agreement saw Hydro Group supply complete connection systems for three turbines on the world’s most advanced multi-turbine tidal stream energy development.   This second MeyGen contract followed on from an announcement in November 2015 regarding a contract with Atlantis Resources - 86 percent owner of MeyGen Limited - for which Hydro Group supplied the complete export connection system for one of the tidal turbines. This most recent contract win saw Hydro Group (contracted by AHH), supply the complete connection system for the remaining three turbines.   As part

Atlantis Resources Joins Ocean Energy Europe Board of Directors

Tim Cornelius, CEO of global tidal developer Atlantis Resources has taken a seat on the Board of Directors of Ocean Energy Europe – the industry group for ocean renewable energy – by becoming a Lead Sponsor of the organization.   Following its acquisition of pioneering tidal company Marine Current Turbines earlier this year, Atlantis Resources now owns one of the largest and most diverse portfolios in the business, with a project pipeline of 600MW. This portfolio includes the 398MW MeyGen project, the world’s largest planned tidal stream array which is currently under constructi

Schottel Hydro Equipment for Tidal Energy Project

SCHOTTEL HYDRO will manufacture and deliver the variable pitch hub for the AR1500 turbine for Phase 1a of the MeyGen tidal energy project under contract to Lockheed Martin.   The MeyGen Phase 1a AR1500, a 1.5 MW seabed mounted turbine, is being designed and delivered by Atlantis Resources and Lockheed Martin. The MeyGen project intends to generate up to 398 MW with offshore tidal turbines by the early 2020s. The AR1500 will have an approximate rotor diameter of 18 meters – asking for a strong and robust hub to accommodate the essential pitch mechanism. SCHOTTEL HYDRO provides this hub

Atlantis Chooses The Switch's Generator for Tidal Turbine

The Switch, a supplier of megawatt-class permanent magnet (PM) generator and full-power converter packages for wind power and other renewable energy applications, received an order to deliver a medium-speed generator for use in the Atlantis Resources Ltd AR1500 turbine drive train. During March 2015, Atlantis confirmed an order with The Switch for an integrated PM medium-speed generator that resulted from a successfully completed pre-design project carried out in 2014. The Switch generator will be used in its newest AR1500 turbine, which will be one of the world's highest yield tidal generation

forefront of world marine energy development and intends to harvest the tidal resource of one of the most energetic sites in Europe. MeyGen Limited is a joint venture between investment bank Morgan Stanley (45%), independent power generator International Power (45%) and tidal technology provider Atlantis Resources Corporation (10%), dedicated to developing the Inner Sound tidal site. The pilot is the first step towards the installation of an 86MW array, with MeyGen’s ultimate aim being the development of a near-400MW project.
