Hydrogen Pipelines: DNV Launches Phase 2 of H2Pipe Project

. Hydrogen, in particular, is desperately needed as a low-carbon energy carrier in hard-to-abate sectors (difficult or impossible to electrify), like aviation, shipping, and high-heat industrial processes. In some countries, like the UK, hydrogen can also be delivered to end users by the existing gas distribution networks at a lower cost than a wholesale switch to electricity. Hence, low-carbon hydrogen is expected to play a significant role in decarbonizing many industries to mitigate climate change," DNV said.DNV’s 2022 Hydrogen Forecast to 2050 finds that to reach Paris Agreement targets

that involves capturing CO2 emissions, transporting it and securely storing it in undersea rock formations to prevent it from entering the atmosphere.   Project Acorn is a low cost CCS system in Northeast Scotland which could be operational by 2023. It will exploit redundant North Sea gas distribution assets.   The Acorn CCS Project has now begun a feasibility study after concluding funding from the European Union’s funding round Accelerating CCS Technologies (ACT). The ACT Acorn study is being led by Pale Blue Dot Energy with project partners Scottish Carbon Capture & Storage

by Excelerate.   Commissioned in late March of this year, the terminal initially employed the Exquisite for both cargo delivery and regasification purposes. The terminal will continue to receive LNG supply via periodical STS transfers allowing for the continuous flow of gas into the local gas distribution system.

Statoil Completes Gudrun Leak Investigation

18, noise and vibrations were reported on Gudrun, and shortly afterwards hydrocarbons were confirmed in the process module.   There was a 2 mm wide crack extending approximately 90 percent across the circumference of a two-inch pipeline. Condensate had leaked from the pipeline and resulted in gas distribution. The actual leak rate is calculated to be around 8 kilogram/second.   The volume of condensate from the leak is estimated to 4 cubic meters.   No one was injured as no personnel were present in the area. The investigation concludes that the outcome could have been fatal if anybody

of oil. Well 4-RJS-647, the first to be connected to the FPSO, has a production potential of over 30 thousand barrels per day. The oil produced at the Iracema Sul area is of high quality and of medium density (30º API) and will be transported by shuttle tankers. The Santos Basin Integrated Gas Distribution Network will distribute the portion of the gas that is not used for reinjection in the field. FPSO Cidade de Mangaratiba will be connected to eight production wells and eight injection ones over the coming months. Production is expected to peak in the first half of 2016. The estimated local
