Kleven: MoU to Build Diamond Mining Ship

Kleven signs MoU with De Beers Marine Namibia for an offshore vessel purpose-designed for seabed mining operations Kleven signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Namibian offshore diamond mining company De Beers Marine Namibia for the building of an offshore vessel purpose-designed to support seabed mining operations. Hurtigruten Brings Underwater Drones to Exploration Cruising

offering: underwater drones capable of exploring cold water locales.    Through a partnership with Blueye Robotics, Hurtigruten will offer underwater vehicles for use on board two of its new hybrid-powered cruise ships, MS Roald Amundsen and MS Fridtjof Nansen. ABB Orders Cable-laying Vessel

ABB informs it has ordered a cable-laying vessel from Kleven shipyard in Norway. Construction Vessel Delivered to Eidesvik

Eidesvik Offshore has taken delivery of Viking Neptun, an offshore construction vessel from Kleven Verft AS. According to Eidesvik Offshore, TBN Viking Neptun represents its largest ever investment in the subsea segment. A long-term loan facility of $124 million has been drawn with Nordea and Eksportkreditt Norway/GIEK to finance the vessel. The vessel, equipped with Reach ROVs and manned by Eidesvik marine personnel and Reach ROV personnel and engineers, will begin a contract with Technip in March 2015. Viking Neptun Delivered for Technip

Viking Neptun was delivered from Kleven Verft to Eidesvik on February 17, and the naming ceremony was held in Stavanger on February 28. The vessel’s Godmother, Patricia Pilenko, broke the champagne bottle on Viking Neptun, which will now start operating on charter for Technip in the North Sea. The offshore construction vessel is the largest in Eidesvik’s fleet, and the largest ever built by Kleven Verft. Aker Wayfarer to be Modified for Subsea Work

Kleven’s Myklebust Verft in Gursken, Norway, has signed a modification contract with Ocean Yield ASA, a ship owning company with investments within oil-service and industrial shipping, to convert the Aker Wayfarer into a deepwater subsea equipment support vessel (SESV). The vessel is presently under long term charter with AKOFS Offshore. The modifications made at Myklebust Verft will enable the deepwater subsea equipment support vessel to install and retrieve deepwater subsea equipment; subsea trees and modules, including subsea structures and manifolds. De Beers Orders Specialized Ship from Kleven

Kleven signed a contract with diamond company De Beers Marine Namibia, part of De Beers Group, on the building of a highly specialized vessel for deep water mineral exploration.   The first of its kind vessel will be of MT 6022 design from Marin Teknikk. This design is proven in the offshore construction segment, but the new build for De Beers will include a wide range of tailor made equipment and features.    “Underwater mineral exploration is a new segment for Kleven, and we look forward to working closely with De Beers on the realisation of this highly advanced vessel.
