New Dolphin Makes a Splash at Oceanology

The new Dolphin 2D sonar from Marine Electronics Ltd (MEL) is making a splash on the company’s stand at Oceanology (E200) where designers of small AUVs and ROVs are able to see what can be achieved when using such a small, low cost package.   A prototype of the new sonar was first presented to the industry a year ago since when it has been refined and tested to the point where it is now ready for operational use.   The new Dolphin 2D sonar has been based-on MEL’s existing longer-range Dolphin 3001 model which operates at 250 kHz. The new Dolphin 2D is a 720 kHz model which

Dolphin 2D Sonar is Ocean Ready

Marine Electronics Ltd will present its new Dolphin 2D sonar at Oceanology International. The new sonar was first shown to the industry in prototype form a year ago, and since then further design, development and testing has been completed and Marine Electronics is now able to demonstrate this new product to potential customers.    The new Dolphin 2D is a 720 kHz system that has evolved from the company’s existing Dolphin 3001 model while introducing several new benefits. Its compact size and light weight now make it suitable for use on small ROVs and AUVs as well as for other

Dolphin Sea View 2D Sonar

A new 2D sonar that provides high frequency real time imagery has been developed for use on the smallest AUVs and ROVs by Marine Electronics Ltd. The Dolphin Sea View offers a 720 kHz operating frequency which gives it a range setting availability from 100m down to 0.2m. It also provides AUV designers with an Ethernet over power option that enables connectivity to be established using just a two core cable. With a sonar head measuring 228mm x 130mm x 70mm the Dolphin Sea View is designed to provide real-time continuous scanning at 30 frames per second over a 120 degree field of view. The unit includes
