Magseis Fairfield Wins GoM Contracts

Norwegian based Magseis Fairfield announced Friday it has been awarded two consecutive deepwater ocean bottom node (OBN) projects in the Gulf of Mexico by an undisclosed repeat customer.The surveys will be carried out in the Mississippi Canyon and Garden Banks areas and will cover a total area of more than 900 square kilometers. Work is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2020 and is expected to take approximately 100 days.The ZXPLR crew led by the REM Saltire node handling vessel was established in the Spring of 2019 and has since been in continuous demand for projects in the Gulf of Mexico.

TechnipFMC Tallies Shell PowerNap Award

TGS, Schlumberger Partner for Ocean-bottom Node Project

to develop opportunities to co-invest in additional multiclient ocean-bottom node projects in the deepwater  U.S. Gulf of Mexico under a new collaboration agreement announced Wednesday.This collaboration includes the previously-announced 2,350 square kilometer Amendment Phase 1 project in the Mississippi Canyon and Atwater Valley protraction areas. Coast Guard Working to Contain MC20 Leak

The U.S. Coast Guard said it has partially assumed federal control of response operations to contain an oil discharge from the site of the collapsed Mississippi Canyon Block 20 (MC20) offshore platform in the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 11 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River.Under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, the Coast Guard will access the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund and assume authority for containing and disposing the oil, it said in a press release on Saturday.In November, the Coast Guard contracted a specialized team to conduct a comprehensive site survey, fabricate

Norwegian seismic specialist TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (TGS) and oilfield services providers Schlumberger have announced a new multiclient nodal seismic project in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.The project, named Amendment, will comprise acquisition of a 2,350-km2 multiclient seismic survey in the Mississippi Canyon and Atwater Valley protraction areas of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Shell Awards Deepwater Installation Contract in GOM

In another sign that activity in the moribund offshore sector is starting to loosen, Jumbo said that it has won the installation contract for the Shell deep-water Vito development in the US Gulf of Mexico.    The Vito development is located in the Mississippi Canyon, approximately 150 miles south of New Orleans in water depth of more than 4,000 feet.   Jumbo’s installation contract involves the initial pre-lay of the mooring system as well as the subsequent tow and hook-up of the FPS.
