Navis Solution on Evergreen Newbuilds
Navis, the provider of maritime software solutions for cargo and vessel performance and compliance, announced that its MACS3 loading computer will be installed on two newbuilding series of container vessels owned and operated by Taiwan-based Evergreen Marine Corporation.Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation, said that due to the owner’s decision to have this loading computer installed, they are moving to support safer and more effective onboard cargo handling. The newbuildings are currently being built at two different Chinese shipyards. The Jiangnan shipyard is currently building four
Navis Survey Acclaims AI
Global container terminals are expected to embrace automated decision making powered by artificial intelligence (AI) as they pursue ways to improve operational consistencies and enhance equipment utilization.According to TechValidate customer survey by Navis, 88% of respondents indicated that automated decision making will be very if not extremely important for the future of innovation at terminals.Further, 83% plan to increase their AI investments over the next one-to-three years, signaling growing confidence in the use of innovative technologies to improve terminal efficiencies and gain
Fernandina Terminal to Use Octopi TOS
Worldwide Terminals Fernandina (WTF) will implement Octopi, the cloud-based TOS from Navis, part of Cargotec CorporationPort of Fernandina in Northeastern Florida, operated by WTF, has agreed to implement Octopi’s software-as-a-service TOS.Worldwide will run Octopi TOS to help the terminal effectively monitor, manage and improve operations at the site in real-time.Octopi TOS is lightweight and designed to improve vessel planning and gate operations at small-to-medium terminals.Currently handling two mid-size container lines and 300,000 tons of breakbulk cargo annually, Worldwide is located 2

now provide reliable, stable temperature, conductivity and pressure measurements for five years and beyond. This, in large part, has been enabled by the Sea-Bird Scientific SBE 41 CTD sensor, which is the standard for temperature and conductivity measurements for the Argo program. The Sea-Bird Scientific Navis Autonomous Profiling Float is used in the Argo and other ocean monitoring programs such as SOCCOM, with sufficient power for over 300 profiles with the SBE 41 CTD. The SOCCOM project is augmenting conventional Argo floats with biogeochemical sensors to measure carbon (pH), nutrients (nitrate) and
Navis to Deploy Its N4 TOS to France's Largest Container Terminal
Navis has reached an agreement to deploy its N4 terminal operating system (TOS) to the largest container terminal in France, the company announced today. The license agreement was with EUROFOS, operator of France's Mediterranean at Fos-sur-Mer terminal, which operates off the coast of France and handles 600,000 TEUs annually. Over the past three years, EUROFOS has invested 65 million Euros in the modernization and development of Mediterranean at Fos-sur-Mer, readying the terminal for 20 percent anticipated growth in the next five years. Prior to selecting N4,

research. The HydroC CO2 sensor is a unique underwater carbon dioxide sensor for in-situ and online measurements of dissolved CO2. The HydroC CO2 is perfect for profiling, AUVs and rosettes or for long-term deployment on buoys, moorings or even biogeochemical profiling floats, like the Sea-Bird Navis float, and its high-precision optical analysing NDIR system makes it ideal for air-sea gas exchange, ocean acidification, climate studies and carbon capture and storage (CCS-MMV) research. It is likely that in order to achieve certainty in data, over-compensation by measuring multiple parameters
Navis Builds on Singapore Success
Navis Engineering has completed work on its latest project involving fast-growing Singaporean offshore specialist Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO), following the commissioning of the DP2 system on board the 70m ROV and diving support vessel Resolution. After successful sea trials and a christening ceremony at the Keppel Bay Marina, Singapore, the vessel has departed for Indonesia, on a three-year charter to Seascape Surveys. For Navis, the project follows quickly after its supply of the DP2 system onboard MEO Ranger, a 65m length platform supply vessel now operating in the Persian Gulf. The
Navis Installs Chinese Language DP Simulator at Dalian University
Finnish-headquartered Navis has installed and commissioned its first dynamic positioning (DP) simulator with Chinese language interface, at the renowned Dalian Maritime University, one the world’s largest training facilities for seafarers. “The successful implementation marks a major step forward in China for maritime training programs for future DP operators and watch-keeping officers alike, and the training course for the DP system will be made available to all students studying the purpose and functions of this kind of Vessel Motion Control system,” said Sergey Paramashkin
Aker Arctic & Navis Engineering Agree DP Collaboration
Aker Arctic Technology Inc and Navis Engineering Oy have signed an agreement on joint development of Dynamic Positioning systems for ice operation. The companies plan to jointly develop next-generation DP-system technology tailored for ice operation by utilizing their core know how and technologies. The development includes improved control algorithms, testing of the systems and utilising new more intelligent technology to overcome the ice challenges. The development work will take place in close co-operation with Aker Arctic Technology in Helsinki and Navis Engineering R&D Centre in St.
