Grob Rejoins OceanWorks as Technical Director

OceanWorks International has welcomed back Harald Grob as Technical Director.   Having spent almost half of his 30-plus years of experience with OceanWorks, Grob rejoins the company to lead the technical staff and providing innovative solutions to OceanWorks customers in all markets.   During his previous time with OceanWorks Grob played a key role in the development of the U.S. Navy Pressurized Rescue Module System (PRMS) as well as numerous other subsea projects for OceanWorks’ scientific, and oil and gas clients.

Observatory Upgrade for Ocean Networks Canada

OceanWorks International said it will provide an upgrade to the Strait of Georgia Shore Station for Ocean Networks Canada (ONC). Its scope consists of design, supply, installation and system integration testing of the upgraded system.   The new system will provide the customer with the ability to monitor and control the power system in the Shore Station with a state of the art control system. New functionality will allow remote access and include soft start capabilities to enhance the safe use of the equipment. Govt. Funds Help OceanWorks Improve Its Junction Boxes

It’s a go ahead for new design development and configuration for the established OceanWorks International observatory communication nodes, thanks to approved funding from The National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP).   The OceanWorks Subsea Instrument Interface Modules (SIIM), or junction boxes originally were developed for the Ocean Networks Canada (ONC) Neptune and Venus observatories, where they have been in place since 2006. There is a total of 14 junction boxes that have been delivered to ONC for deployment on both Neptune and Venus.

OceanWorks Names Fether ADS Product Line Manager

OceanWorks International has appointed Jonathan Fether as Atmospheric Diving System (ADS) Product Line Manager.   A trained submersible pilot and experienced OceanWorks HARDSUIT pilot, Fether will work closely with OceanWorks customers carrying out the training and support for the ADS. Subsea solution engineering company OceanWorks has appointed Richard Gage, P.Eng to the role of Director of the Project Management Office (PMO).   Gage is responsible for overseeing and supporting the execution of all projects. OceanWorks International is has appointed Andrea MacIntosh to the position of Operations Manager effective immediately. MacIntosh will take the reins of the OceanWorks’ Vancouver facility in anticipation of an expected increase in the number of projects to be completed in 2017. VENUS Seafloor Observatory: 10 Years of Operation

Ocean Network Canada’s VENUS coastal observatory in the Salish Sea, designed and delivered by OceanWorks International, will celebrate 10 years of continuous operation in early February 2016.
