Naviera Tramarsa Adds Another ROV

Offshore operator Naviera Tramarsa has extended its subsea vehicle fleet with a new Cougar XT remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) from manufacturer Saab Seaeye.The 2,000m rated Cougar XT will enter operations in May 2019, joining the company’s Saab Seaeye Falcon ROV, which it has operated for 10 years.Naviera Tramarsa’s main activity is the inspection of oil platforms in the north of Peru for the hydrocarbon exploration and production company Savia Oeru, where the Falcon has undertaken visual inspections and CP measurements.Naviera Tramarsa said the Cougar XT will expand and improve

Smart Torque Tool Takes Off

Considerable savings in major torque intervention projects are reported by five subsea operators who were early to adopt the new smart electric torque tool from TMT and Saab Seaeye and is now available as a rental option.Offshore operator, McDermott, found it could get a rapid configuration change to their electric tool with accurate torque operations and speeds up to 30 rpm, operating eight valves requiring 90 to 107 turns each. GoM Rigs Evacuated ahead of Storm Cindy

Facing incoming Tropical Storm Cindy, offshore oil and gas operators in the Gulf of Mexico have begun evacuating platforms and rigs as the storm moves north-westward toward the U.S. Gulf Coast.   Data from offshore operator reports submitted to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) as of 11:30 CDT today indicate that personnel have been evacuated from a total of 40 production platforms, or 5.43 percent of the 737 manned platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.    Personnel have been evacuated from one rig non-dynamically positioned (DP) rig, equivalent to 6.67 percent of
