Partners Eye Autonomous Vessel Technology for UK Ports
Peel Ports Group and ASV Global (ASV) have launched a partnership which will develop the use of autonomous vessel technology for U.K. port operations.The partnership kick-started with a visit from ASV’s team to the Port of Liverpool, to demonstrate the C-Cat-3, an autonomous vessel ideal for shallow survey operations.The C-Cat 3 operated in Brocklebank Dock carrying out seabed survey using a Norbit iWBMS multibeam echo sounder.The successful demonstration has led Peel Ports Group to explore the possibility of using the technology at its other sites throughout the U.K.Peel Ports will facilitate
FarSounder Sonar for RRS Sir David Attenborough
The new $180 million polar research vessel RRS Sir David Attenborough currently under construction at the Cammell Laird Birkenhead shipyard in the Port of Liverpool City Region, U.K. is slated to be equipped with FarSounder's longest range sonar system, the FarSounder-1000. Briggs Marine Expanding in Liverpool
U.K. marine contractor Briggs Marine is expanding in the North West of England with new water-side facilities in Port of Liverpool. The 500 sq m building will allow Briggs to offer a greater range of services, and will assist the company in further developing its offering in renewables, sub-marine engineering and port services in this busy region. Kalmar SmartLane Automated Gate System for Liverpool Port
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, will deliver Kalmar SmartLane automated gate system to Port of Liverpool, operated by Peel Ports Group. The new system will reduce waiting times and administration for hauliers, resulting in faster turnaround. The implementation is scheduled to be completed by early 2015.
