SEA-KIT Awarded ZEVI Funding to Build Hydrogen-fueled USV

Port of London Launches Fully-electric Survey Vessel

In a first for UK ports, the Port of London Authority (PLA) and University College of London (UCL) have launched a fully electric, remotely operated survey vessel.It will support a MSc Hydrographic Surveying course they have run in partnership since 1999.The state-of-the-art platform, manufactured by Maritime Robotics, was acquired by the partners, following a successful bid and award of an £263,000 grant from the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).The vessel features the most advanced sonar and scanning system from technology manufacturer NORBIT, called a WINGHEAD.

New Survey Vessel for Port of London

The Port of London Authority (PLA) ordered a new purpose-built survey catamaran, a CTruk MPC19, due to enter service on the river Thames later this year. The vessel is will replace the PLA’s Yantlet vessel as she reaches the end of her service life, continuing the PLA Hydrography team’s survey work which facilitates safe navigation on the tidal Thames. As the U.K.’s busiest inland waterway, the river is a link for trade, travel and leisure and as home to the U.K.’s second largest port. Capt. R2SONIC Multi-beam for Port of London Authority

Swathe Services has announced that after extensive trials in the River Thames in 2014  the Port of London Authority has chosen the R2SONIC SONIC 2024 to be installed on its new survey vessel, due for delivery in October 2015.    The SONIC 2024 which has Ultra High Resolution (UHR) capability at 700 kHz will satisfy the PLA’s particular interest in structural monitoring along with other high resolution bathymetry survey requirements.   The sonar will be installed on a bespoke hull mounting with tilting capability on a new CTruk MPC19 which is currently under construction
