DNV GL Performs Offshore Drone Survey

Classification society DNV GL said its surveyors have carried the group’s first offshore drone survey on the semisubmersible vessel Safe Scandinavia in the North Sea.   The 25,383 GT tender support vessel (TSV) Safe Scandinavia is owned and operated by Prosafe, supporting Statoil’s drilling operations off the coast of Norway. GM Deep Sea Mooring Secures Det Norske Oljeselskap Contract

Global Maritime Deep Sea Mooring, a provider of offshore mooring services in Norway, has signed a contract with Norwegian operator Det norske oljeselskap to support Prosafe’s semi-submersible Safe Zephyrus accommodation rig in the Ivar Aasen North Sea field. The contract also includes support to the Maersk Interceptor ultra-harsh environment jack-up rig.   Deep Sea Mooring, which has already installed the pre-lay system, will supply mooring and pre-lay equipment; offshore personnel; mobilization and demobilization services; and operational planning for the Safe Zephyrus accommodation

Prosafe Crew to Train Using a New Lifeboat Simulator

Virtual Marine Technology said it has delivered a second lifeboat simulator system to Prosafe. The simulator was custom built for training lifeboat coxswains onboard the Safe Zephyrus, one of Prosafe’s newest accommodation rigs.    The Safe Zephyrus was constructed at Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd in Singapore. The vessel complies with Norwegian regulations and is capable of operating in the harshest environments and with the highest standards of safety. Prosafe Signs First Contract for Safe Notos

Owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels Prosafe announced it has signed a contract with an undisclosed client for the provision of an accommodation vessel in the U.K. sector of the North Sea.   The contract firm period commitment is over eight months and will involve an initial short period using the Safe Zephyrus commencing in the second quarter of 2016, to be replaced with the Safe Notos on arrival into the North Sea. In addition, Prosafe has granted four one-month options.   Total value of the contract for the firm period is approximately $60 million.

Statoil: More Oil From Oseberg Øst

Statoil will increase the Oseberg Øst field recovery rate by means of a drilling campaign starting up in the summer of 2015. On Wednesday 2 July it was made public that Prosafe Offshore has been awarded a contract for the use of Safe Scandinavia in connection with this campaign. Support vessel Safe Scandinavia is currently a flotel, but it will be modified to enable it to store and treat drilling fluid and cuttings as the drilling operations take place.
