SeeByte Selected to Develop Future Crewed-uncrewed Teaming Concept

SeeByte, developer of smart software solutions for uncrewed maritime systems, reports it been selected by the U.K. Ministry of Defense’s Defense and Security Accelerator (DASA) to design and develop a proof-of-concept solution to improve communication and understanding between operators and uncrewed maritime systems. The new concept will include tailoring the volume and content of messages received and predicting vehicles’ actions between communication updates, SeeByte said. The engine will present any variation detected between the predicted and actual actions of the vehicle executed

specialists.First of all, what is robotics? Does that include remotely operated vehicles and autonomous underwater vehicles, for example?David Lane, Professor of Autonomous Systems Engineering, and Founding Director Edinburgh Centre for Robotics:“Yes, ROVs and AUVs are robots. They both have smart software to do different things - control, navigate, station keep for the ROV and much more for the AUV that must process its sensor data to understand where things are around it, e.g. from a sonar, and adapt its mission plan when the unexpected happens. It has to do this onboard (at the edge) because

known as the Large Modifiable Underwater Mothership, or MUM.   “Today’s AUVs are usually limited with regard to energy, payload capacity and autonomy,” said Hendrik Wehner, Design Engineer, thyssenkrupp Marine Systems. “For a sole autonomous movement of the ships, smart software solutions are needed. Our partners from University of Rostock and ATLAS ELEKTRONIK are setting the pace there. Large autonomous underwater platforms that can be configured around a payload do not yet exist. MUM will be engineered in such a manner that future payload modules can be designed by

SeeByte Wins Belgian Navy Contract

Belgian Navy buys 10 licenses of SeeByte’s SeeTrack software for its AUV fleet   SeeByte, creator of smart software for unmanned maritime systems, said it has sold 10 SeeTrack licenses, including personnel training, to the Belgian Navy. SeeTrack will be integrated onto its AUV fleet which will be deployed for Mine Counter Measures (MCM).   The software package includes additional specialist modules designed for mine countermeasure (MCM) operations, SeeByte said. These include Automatic Target Recognition (ART), Change Detection Tool, Performance Analysis Training Tool (PATT) and

interacting with the sensors and interpreting the data received, and thereafter directing the robot to take appropriate action.  In addition, innovative command and control software facilitates the functioning of multiple sensors to help the vehicle autonomously perform missions. With smart software operating on inexpensive, yet high performance computers, AUVs can migrate from being automated to being truly autonomous. The AUV can make decisions on their own while the mission is still under way and change their mission objective based on the sensor data that they receive. In essence, the
