STATS Group Earns the Subsea Pipeline Projects Award

Pipeline technology company, STATS Group, has been awarded the Subsea Pipeline Projects Award by the Pipeline Industries Guild, for its BISEP technology.   STATS has invested significant capital in developing its subsea BISEP® technology,  which is installed when pressurized pipelines need isolation for repair, modification or tie-in activities.   The BISEP technology provides fail-safe double block and bleed isolation deployed through a single hot tap fitting. The BISEP is the only hot tap installed plug to be fully certified by DNV GL to verify that the design criteria satisfy

Subsea Pipeline Repair Restores Hong Kong Gas Link

Pipeline technology specialist STATS Group has completed its first subsea isolation project in China on a 780-kilometer pipeline crucial for supplying gas to Hong Kong.   STATS Group was contracted by COOEC Subsea Technology to provide a temporary isolation of the Yacheng pipeline in the South China Sea. The pipeline had been damaged by a ship’s anchor and left unpiggable at a location about 280 kilometers from shore and in water depths of 90 meters.   After several detailed engineering studies and comprehensive risk assessments, it was determined the best repair solution was to

Murchison Decommissioned after 30 Years of Operation

STATS Group in collaboration with Paradigm Flow Services and Halliburton safely and successfully isolated, de-oiled, plugged and abandoned two 3.5” subsea flowlines as part of the Murchison decommissioning project.   After nearly 30 years of operation in the Northern North Sea, the CNR International operated Murchison field had reached the end of its production life. Prior to the removal of the topsides jacket, it became evident that two subsea flowlines were still connected to the platform. These lines were known to still contain hydrocarbons and required to be de-oiled and cut to

Flangeless Subsea Launcher Debuted at Subsea Expo

Pipeline technology company, STATS Group, have developed a Flangeless Subsea Launcher (FSL) which the manufacturer says offers greater flexibility and can be positioned at any given position in depths of up to 2,220 meters. Currently, temporary subsea launchers are designed for flanged pipe connection to allow maintenance pigs and isolation plugs to be deployed and recovered for pipeline maintenance or repair operations, however, flanged connections limit the location of where a subsea launcher can be attached. The STATS designed flangeless solution, which was this week launched at the Subsea

DNV GL Approves Pipeline Isolation Tools

Pipeline engineering specialist STATS Group has received the DNV GL seal of approval for its Tecno Plug and BISEP range of pipeline isolation tools. DNV GL has issued certificate P-15082 for the 3-48” range for both Tecno Plugs and BISEPs. Obtaining type approval from DNV GL ensures clients that STATS Group products are fully compliant to the highest standards and are ‘ready to go’ without the need for further work or adaptation by the end-user. To date, UK-headquartered STATS have completed more than 200 Tecno Plug deployments, including recent isolations in Oman, Malaysia

Dale Millward joined STATS in 2005 and has been integral in developing

In-Line Weld test tools provide hot-work barriers and localised hydrostatic testing

STATS Group Completes Hydrostatic Testing

testing of new welds/fittings during a planned shutdown for routine maintenance and the rerouting of new pipework. The pipeline engineering specialist supplied 28 In-Line Weld Test Tools, ranging in size from 2" to 20", and a team of six technicians during the 12 day shutdown window. STATS Group general manager in Qatar, Vikas Shangari, said, “Our In-Line Weld Test Tools are deployed in to ambient pipework to provide a verified vapor barrier, allowing hot work to be safely and efficiently performed without the risk to personnel from the migration of flammable or harmful vapors.
