SAFEEN Acquires Damen Shoalbuster 2609 MAQTAA
SAFEEN, the subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports formerly known as Abu Dhabi Marine Services, has taken delivery of a Damen Shoalbuster 2609 named MAQTAA to join its existing fleet. Like all the vessels in Damen’s Shoalbuster range she is a multi-purpose, shallow draught workboat capable of undertaking a wide range of roles including towing, mooring, pushing, anchor handling, dredge support, supplying and other support activities. The order was placed by SAFEEN just two months ago.

Rolls-Royce and Guido Perla and Associates, Inc. (GPA) collaborative efforts are delivering results for customers in North America. Rolls-Royce and GPA most recently teamed up last year to provide a highly innovative design and power & propulsion systems integration solution for two PSVs for Jackson Offshore Operators. Delivery of the first two GPA 675J PSVs, currently under construction at BAE Systems’ shipyard in Jacksonville, Florida, will be made in 2014.
Airmar Acquires Marport Commercial Fishing Division
Airmar Technology Corporation, a company that designs, engineers and manufactures ultrasonic transducers and sensor technology, announced that it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Marport Deep Sea Technologies’ Commercial Fishing division, a leading developer of advanced sonar technology. Airmar will also acquire the Marport name and the web domain as a part of the transaction. The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
Australian Agency Believes it Can Locate MH370
Australia's main scientific agency said on Wednesday it believed with "unprecedented precision and certainty" that a missing Malaysia Airlines aircraft crashed into the sea northeast of an area scoured in a fruitless two-year underwater search. The agency's assertion is based on satellite pictures taken two weeks after Flight MH370 went missing on March 8, 2014, with 239 people on board, on a flight to Beijing from the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.

UKHO Supports HMS Queen Elizabeth in Portsmouth
The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has supported the safe arrival of HMS Queen Elizabeth into Portsmouth by providing specialist marine geospatial and hydrographic expertise and data capabilities. Following initial dredging operations to make Portsmouth’s navigation channel and entrance deeper, hydrographic data was collected by the survey launch HMS Gleaner using modern multibeam echosounder technology to confirm the available water depth.

ULSTEIN PX121 for Otto Offshore
Ulstein Design & Solutions entered into a contract with Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd, China, for the delivery of ship design & equipment to four PX121 type platform supply vessels. The ship owner is the Singapore based Otto Offshore Ltd., which is scheduled to receive all vessels in 2016. The contract also includes an option for four vessels. These PX121 vessels are capable of supporting offshore activities which are being carried out further from shore and in deeper waters.

EIVA System Leads the Way for A2SEA Jack-ups

Maine Marine Composites has been awarded a $249,976 federal grant from the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) to analyze the best ways to predict fatigue in the support structures of floating offshore wind turbines.
