Engineering Representative Appointed for Lake Erie Wind Project
The Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo) in Cleveland, Ohio has appointed international engineering and operations support services contractor Offshore Design Engineering Limited (ODE), part of the DORIS Group located in the U.K., as the engineering representative for Icebreaker Wind, a 20.7 megawatt offshore wind project in Lake Erie, and the first freshwater offshore wind project in North America.

Bourne Tidal Test Site Receives Preliminary Permit from FERC
The Bourne Tidal Test Site is now a bit closer to reality. The Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative (MRECo) was notified by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) that it has been approved for a preliminary permit to set up a test site for tidal energy in the Cape Cod Canal. “This is the first and very important step to gaining all the regulatory permits required for the test site, which will be the first in the United States,” said MRECo Director, John Miller.

Kongsberg Launches Third Generation HiPAP System
The third generation of Kongsberg Maritime’s High Precision Acoustic Positioning and Navigation System – HiPAP, is now available. The new system, HiPAP 502, is smaller, lighter, more durable and accurate, according to the manufacturer.
