Modus Orders Unique Subsea Pipeline Inspection AUV from Kawasaki
UK-based subsea services company Modus Subsea Services has ordered two SPICE AUV systems from Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (KHI). Kawasaki has developed the AUV equipped with a robotic arm in response to the growing demand for pipeline maintenance in offshore oil and gas fields. SPICE will be used for operations in the North Sea and other areas around the world after delivery to MODUS in 2021. DSS Secures HOS Jones Act MPSV for Gulf ROV Work
Delta SubSea Secures U.S.-Flagged DP-2 IMR/Construction Support Vessel for Deepwater ROV Operations in the GoM. Delta SubSea, LLC (DSS) has entered into an agreement with a subsidiary of Hornbeck Offshore Services, Inc. (HOS) for the HOS Bayou, one of Hornbeck’s recently constructed 300 class HOSMAX DP-2 multipurpose service vessels (MPSVs). The HOS Bayou is the newest U.S.-flagged Jones Act-compliant MPSV on the market today.
MARINS Chosen for U.K.’s New Aircraft Carriers
iXBlue has been selected to provide inertial navigation systems for the two Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers currently being built by the Aircraft Carrier Alliance for the U.K. Royal Navy. The bridge system for each of the carriers will incorporate two iXBlue MARINS units. Leak Detection Methods for Subsea Pipelines
According to the U.K.’s Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) Offshore Division (OSD), almost 400 offshore hydrocarbon releases had been reported between April 2010 and April 2013, around 45% of which were classified as major or significant incidences. Regardless of their size, subsea leakages are a foremost concern for the industry. This issue extends beyond the considerable costs of product loss and repairs, but considers human injuries as well as significant environmental impacts.
Kosmos to Buy into Senegal Offshore Blocks for $400 mln
Kosmos Energy is set to sign a $400 million "farm-in" agreement with Senegal's state-owned hydrocarbon firm Petrosen and Timis Corp to take a 60 percent stake in the Cayar and St. Louis offshore blocks that they operate, a draft Petrosen document seen by Reuters on Saturday showed. InterMoor Completes Red Hawk Spar Decommissioning Work
InterMoor, an Acteon company, has completed its contract supporting the decommissioning of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation’s Red Hawk spar in the Gulf of Mexico. The Red Hawk spar is the deepest floating production platform to date to be decommissioned in the Gulf of Mexico. It is also the first spar decommissioned in the “Rigs-to-Reefs” program, which required the spar to be laid down on its side on the seafloor.
What's New in Floating Production Systems?
What’s New in October? 324 oil/gas floating production units are now in service, on order or available for reuse on another field. FPSOs account for 65% of the existing systems, 78% of systems on order. Production semis, barges, spars and TLPs comprise the balance. The oil/gas production floater inventory is the same as last month. There were no orders for additional production systems in September. Another 30 floating LNG processing systems are in service or on order.
