STL Secures $2m Contract

STL secured a$2mln contract with an international engineering services firm that will see it provide a range of innovative products designed to improve productivity and reduce downtime.

Aberdeen-based STL (Subsea Technologies Ltd) provides pioneering subsea equipment and technical advisory services, from concept development and design engineering to project management and operations support.

The latest scope of work awarded will see STL deliver a range of well intervention equipment, including three SLICs (Stackable Lightweight Intervention Connectors) and seven male mandrels, of which four will be configured as full-bore mandrels and two as test/lift caps, with one spare.

The connectors are fully populated with STL’s recently developed range of subsea hydraulic couplers in a range of sizes, and the scope also includes two SLIC deck test stands which enable full function and pressure testing of connected equipment on deck.

The SLIC technology is a modular and flexible subsea solution that features “plug and play” connectivity, creating a robust, reliable connection point into well access systems.

As a latch-style connector for Riserless Subsea Well Intervention (RLWI), the technology improves safety, offers increased reliability, ease of maintenance and redundancy.

The SLIC takes into account the complexities of not only the  physical and statutory, but also the operational and contractual environment in which it operates to “optimize through-life results” for the user.

STL’s range of innovations, including the patented, industry-first XR Connector, have been developed to overcome the challenges posed by maintaining efficient operations in the most demanding offshore environments.
