Description

Senior and highly accomplished   Marine Engineer with Management qualification - possess 35+ years of rich experience in techno/commercial operation of ships and an extensive new / Dry docking experience.  Possess shore based Senior Managerial experience of around 15+ years in the technical field of - Bulk Carriers, Chemical/ Product tankers, VLCCs,  Offshore vessels -PSVs/ AHTSVs Widely experienced in project handling of New build vessels and others as may be required for the marine Industry.

Possess elaborate experience in – setting up of new business activity, plant / machinery including testing and commissioning.

Job related experience:

Executive Director – (Offshore) – Current position (1 year and 6 months)

Technical Head- (Offshore)  [June 2012 – October 2014]

Heading the technical department – Ship management (Offshore fleet) and Projects.

- Project Head  [Sept 2007- May 2012] – 5 Years

Greatship India Limited. Location- Singapore. Working as an-Advisor to new shipbuilding projects (Offshore division). Carried out varied projects in- Singapore, China, Indonesia and Colombo.

Senior General Manager (Fleet Management)[July 1997- July 2007] – 10 Years

Apeejay Shipping Limited. Location- India.                      

Technical management of – Bulk Carrier fleet.

Successfully carried out charter party execution of employed  fleet 1. Bulk carriers  carrying Coal cargo in the West coast of India 2. Panamax and Handymax vessels operating globally.

Chief Engineer/ Port Engineer [Jan 1996- April 1997] – 1 Year.

  • New building of 78m long MPSV (Multipurpose supply vessels 4 Nos – DP2) in Colombo Dockyard Limited.
  • New shipbuilding – of AHTSVs (Anchor Handling vessels -4 Nos- 63 meters x 80 T DP2)   in World- Nanindah (Batam-Indonesia).
  • New building project (year 2000/01) at HHI –Korea -Panamax Bulk Carrier - (77000 DWT) -involving project planning, design /drawing approval, structural supervision and commissioning of Vessel.
  • Project steel renewal (SPS technology) - A 25 years old bulk carrier (Panamax) the tank top plating was renewed using the SPS (Sandwich plate system- technology. This required of time for steel repairs of the entire tank top plating and was carried out afloat- without dry docking.
  • Technical management of ships, bulk carrier fleet owned by the Company.
  • Carried out sale/purchase activities of the company. bought 25+years’ old vessels and chartered them to carriage of coal for TNEB (State Electricity board) India.
  • Project setting up of cargo discharge operation - Worked for LOTS (USA) Inc and set up and bagging machines to carry out cargo discharge operation under US Aid cargo destined for mainly developing countries.
  • Setting up of 30 MW Power plant in (Tata group ) - Completed installation and commissioning of – 30 MW power plant.
  • Setting up of 6 MW Power plant in (Tata group Telco) - Completed installation and commissioning of – 6 MW power plant.
  • of tankers/ Bulk carriers - extensively carried out dry-docking repairs & steel renewals (1000 T +) in Chinese Shipyard.
  • Structural analysis by class (LRS) in order to understand the minimum scantling requirement – this exercise was carried out on old vessels which accounted for reduction in steel renewal.
  • Enhancement of DWT of a bulk carrier for commercial benefits - Converted and increased the DWT of a Handy max bulk carrier – from 39000 DWT to 44000 DWT to earn higher charter rates and acceptability in the Poompuhar trade. This action led to - being most competitive during tenders.
  • Surveys -Hull & Machinery - Participated as owner’s representative to defend the claims for machinery damage ( damage) and fire incident that damaged the cables.
  • Environmental Compliance - Vessels Certification under ISO 14001:2004 Environmental management systems (EMS)...

  • Graduate of premium Marine College (DMET) batch, 1973-77. Passed with distinction and merit position.
  • Management qualification- PGDBA (Post Graduate diploma in business management- U21 Global/Singapore).
  • Passed MOT (Motor) Chief Engineer certificate of competency.

  • Lead Auditor course in quality Management (ISO 9000)–By BSI –UK.
