PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Terminal Manager – Red Hook Terminals LLC – Freeport, TX 2015 – Present
Recruited to establish a roro terminal to support a business critical new contract with Höegh. Manage all aspects of terminal operations, including labor management (e.g. relations, strategy, forecasting, etc.). Develop customer quotes, quote customers, coordinate projects (e.g. rail, cranes, trucking, etc.), and track daily P&L.
  • Leveraged terminal side and vessel operations expertise to build a fully functional operation within just 6 months, including hiring and training a 200-member labor force (e.g. foremen, spotters, lashers, etc.), as well as superintendents.
  • Partnered with superintendents to map out processes and create KPIs, which increased labor productivity from day one by 35% and reduced vessel working times by the same amount, all while achieving exceptionally low damage ratio of 0.035%.
  • Spearheaded initiatives to drive continuous improvement across the operation, including an ongoing time and motion study to identify areas of opportunity, streamline processes, and maximize labor and profits.
  • Contributed, as the terminal operator, to Horizon Terminal Services earning an Automotive Global Award North America for 2016.
  • Achieved an incident free first year and recognition for the port by at the ILA Safety Conference by creating clear safety procedures, immediately resolving potential risk, and influencing a culture of safety.
Port Captain – Höegh Autoliners – Baltimore, MD 2007 – 2015
Planned and managed stowage for PCTC vessels with a cargo mix of up to 2,500 vehicles and pieces of equipment per port across 5 load ports and 3-10 discharge ports. Coordinated operations with internal departments and vendors. Supervised cargo operations in foreign and domestic ports. Advised booking department of cargo handling capabilities and approve vendor invoices.
  • Earned praise for planning accuracy and space utilization, including reducing port operation times 7% across the board by mid-year, 2% better than the company’s aggressive targets.
  • Cultivated strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, from Höegh’s Operations Department to Stevedores, in order to remove roadblocks and speed up operations.
  • Developed and communicated multifaceted, agile space utilization plans for a vessel’s rapidly fluctuating cargo mix and volumes. Recognized for accuracy and for ensuring all cargo reserved to load made the vessel.
  • Travelled frequently to provide on the ground support and oversight and more quickly address operational shortfalls, respond to issues, and reduce delays.
