  • of Towing Endorsement
  • Experience sailing and/or managerial position
  • Previous knowledge/experience in higher education and/or career services
  • Familiarity with organizations and businesses which hire the Academy graduates
  • Knowledge of the industries in which MMA graduates are employed

 

Desired Assets:

  • Varsity athletic coaching experience at the college level.

General Statement of Duties:  The Assistant Director works withthe license-track students and maritime employers, developing and maintaining partnerships with employers in order to facilitate permanent job opportunities for MMA students in the Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering programs.  The Assistant Director represents all majors at the Academy when conducting employer outreach.

General Responsibilities:

  • Conduct targeted employer outreach as planned by the Career & Professional Services team
  • Assist with planning and implementation of services provided by the Office of Career & Professional Services, including but not limited to, Career Fairs, Advisory Boards, Employer Presentations and visits
  • Provide career counseling services to students seeking internship opportunities or permanent employment
  • Assist with departmental recruiting activities
  • Work directly with the Director of Career & Professional Services and faculty department chairs
  • Develop professional relationships with cadets, faculty, staff, alumni and industry professionals
  • Conduct career workshops
  • Collect data from students, alumni employers regarding career outcomes
  • Participate on Career Services Advisory Board and other academic advisory boards
  • Assist with departmental marketing needs and publication materials
  • Participate in Academy functions such as Open House, Orientation, Registration, and Commencement
