Does Australia Need ‘Interim’ Submarines to Tide It Over Until Nuclear Boats Arrive?

Swedish company Saab Kockums (the designer of the Collins class), the current A-26 submarine design could be adapted for Australia’s interim needs as a more modern “son of Collins” class submarine. However, both prospects appear to be at risk due to Australia’s naval ship builder, ASC Corporation. ASC has so far refused to work closely with Saab Kockums for a Collins class refurbishment. The program could potentially extend the operational lifespan of Australia’s existing Collins class by up to a decade.Even if the current Collins class boats are modernized, Australia&rsquo

specifically for the aquaculture industry,” Haag said.    This system generates daily reports so that fish farms can document that they operate according to standards set out by governmental organizations, or nongovernmental organizations such as the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC).    “As an example, there are least 100 ASC-certified fish farming sites in the Chile, most of which would instantly become more efficient by adopting the AOS system in combination with current profilers,” Haag said

OSIL Supplies Niskin Bottle for St Helena School

a donation of a 5L Niskin bottle from Ocean Scientific International Ltd (OSIL) in the U.K. OSIL offered the sampling equipment to marine science teacher and marine enrichment leader Bev Tyson, who hoped to ensure the school could participate in different environmental investigations, including the ASC worldwide micro plastics project.   Measurements of salinity, temperature, pH and dissolved nutrients will be taken, and the data fed into several different investigations. Samples will also be taken at various depths and sent to the ASC worldwide micro plastics project, which analyses samples

Australia Submarines: It is Japan vs. France

Japan is confident it has proven itself the best contender to build Australia's new submarines, the French have moved to undermine Japan’s bid to build the navy’s new submarines.   Representatives from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), the co-builder of Japan's Soryu-class subs, toured ASC's shipyards in Adelaide on Tuesday. MHI chief executive Shunichi Miyanaga says Soryu-class submarines have proven capability, unlike the untested French and German designs. "We have the only proven submarine," he said.   The French counterpart said only a “complete submarine
