from sister company Offshore Marine Management’s (OMM).he contract, due to be delivered in the first quarter of 2019, covers the installation of 12,000 concrete mattresses, manufactured by ULO themselves, to minimize erosion by protecting a river bank on-site at a Nuclear Plant in a rural area of Bangladesh. The supply of the MDS3 system will be supported by specialist personnel provided by another sister company, Offshore Marine People & Academy (OMPA).The MDS3 system most recently completed a mattress installation to protect subsea cable on the Scilly Isle connector project off the coast of the U.K

How Does River Outflow Impact Coastal Sea Level?

measurements, since the resolution of existing sensors isn’t fine enough to get accurate readings of ocean height within a few miles of the coast.“When you think of societal impact, you want to know what’s happening at the coast,” Piecuch says. “In low lying areas like Bangladesh, we don’t yet know how sea level and river outflow combine. But if a major storm comes through, even a small rise in the background mean sea level could have a huge impact on flooding.”The WHOI model has only been used to calculate average sea level on an annual basis—but Piecuch

we can make a real impact in the OFW sector to increase efficiency and drive down costs.”In November, Flintstone secured a repeat order of its mooring system for the Moheshkali floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, in collaboration with parent company MacGregor.  The project with Bangladesh-based company, Summit LNG Terminal Co will see Flintstone’s system utilized on Summit’s floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU)

Seas to Continue Rising Even if Climate Goals Are Met

gas emissions would limit the long-term rise, driven by a thaw of ice from Greenland to Antarctica that will re-draw global coastlines, a German-led team wrote in the journal Nature Communications. Sea level rise is a threat to cities from Shanghai to London, to low-lying swathes of Florida or Bangladesh, and to entire nations such as the Maldives in the Indian Ocean or Kiribati in the Pacific. By 2300, the report projected that sea levels would gain by 0.7-1.2 metres, even if almost 200 nations fully meet goals under the 2015 Paris Agreement, which include cutting greenhouse gas emissions to

IKM Subsea Singapore Starts 2018 with Multiple Contracts

IKM Subsea Singapore said it has kicked off 2018 with a double contract award.   The first is a contract to provide two remotely operated vehicles (ROV) for a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) mooring installation in Bangladesh. IKM Subsea provided one Merlin WR200 and a Comanche with the necessary toolings onboard the vessel Jumbo Javelin. IKM said it was chosen due to previous experience with the client, Jumbo Offshore, and the ability to perform in strong weather conditions in Bangladesh. With the Merlin WR200, the operating weather window is extended to help and execute the project.

Melting Sea Ice: A Canary in the Coal Mine

.   Sea ports are not alone is the risk. Much of the Louisiana coast is in danger in inundation. One island community there was recently abandoned as untenable. Others will surely follow. Islands in the Pacific have disappeared below the waves and others are smaller than they were previously.
