Poroy named CEO of Strategic Robotic Systems

Lou Dennis has joined the SeaRobotics Corporation as Director of Programs based at the company's headquarters in Stuart, Fla.   Dennis entered the ocean industry as a commercial diver after graduating from Florida Institute of Technology. He then joined Subsea 7's engineering group focused on Deepwater ROV and Intervention Tooling System design. Dennis later joined ROV manufacturer Perry Slingsby Systems, as its Vice President of Programs then moving onto Lockheed Martin as Business Development Manager for its AUV program. Olgoonik/Fairweather Wins BOEM Contract

Olgoonik/Fairweather, LLC, in conjunction with a team of scientists from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the University of Texas at Austin, the Florida Institute of Technology, Battelle Memorial Institute and Kinnetic Laboratories, Inc., has been awarded the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) contract to continue environmental monitoring research in the Beaufort Sea. The project is titled Arctic Nearshore Impact Monitoring in the Development Area (ANIMIDA III). SeaRobotics has delivered the first HullBUG (Hull Bio-inspired Underwater Grooming) System to the Center for Corrosion and Biofouling Control at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne.   This will be tested and further developed at the newly commissioned Large Scale Seawater Facility , which is located at Port Canaveral and funded by the U.S. Navy Office of Naval Research (ONR).
