New Sonars for Shark Marine’s Navigator
Shark Marine Technologies said its Navigator series is now available with three different forward looking sonar solutions: Teledyne Blueview’s Proviewer line, Tritech’s Gemini and Sound Metrics’ Aris. Teledyne Blueview sonars have been the standard forward looking sonars available on the Navigator since its early models, and now Tritech and Sound Metrics sonar options have been added in line with the Navigator’s initial design philosophy, that no single configuration is perfect for every job. This has been a key design aspect for the Navigator over the past 12
Garrington Receives Diving Industry Award
Jim Garrington, CEO of Shark Marine Technologies, is the recipient of the 2017 Technical Excellence Award presented by the Canadian Divers Certification Board of Canada (DCBC) at the Canadian Underwater Conference and Exhibition in Ottawa, Ontario. The award recognizes Garrington’s many contributions to advancing technology for divers and the diving industry; from the first helmet mounted cameras to modular ROVs to today’s underwater diver held systems that are currently in use by military, police, scientists and commercial divers worldwide.

Long Beach FD Strengthens SAR Capability
Shark Marine Technologies Inc. has delivered a Mako Diver Delivery System (DDS) to Long Beach Fire Department in California. The Mako DDS will be used in conjunction with one of two Navigator systems already in use with the department. The Mako will allow the divers longer search periods, due to less physical demand on the divers, also enabling programmed searches of a defined area. This allows the diver to concentrate scanning the area around him/her for drowned victims while the Mako DDS follows the search pattern. The goal of the Navigator was to decrease the time to find targets on
SCRIPPS Procures ROV from Shark Marine
SCRIPPS institution of OCEANOGRAPHY, an oceanic research institution on the southwestern coast of the United States, has acquired a Shark Marine Barracuda ROV. The Barracuda will be used in conjunction with the Shark Marine Navigator, procured by the institute a couple years back. The Barracuda is a high power, lightweight two man deployable ROV, packed with technology and plenty of thrust to get the job done. The ROV can operate at multiple power levels, from 2,000 to 6,000 watts. Allowing for a small or large generator depending on the thrust required for the job. The Barracuda boasts a
Metal Detector Added to Underwater Diver System
Shark Marine Technologies Inc. announced the integration of the Ebinger 725K Underwater Metal Detector with its own Navigator diver-held imaging sonar and navigation system. This integration provides the diver with another underwater tool whose collected data can now be completely geo-referenced to the location of the diver using it. Sensory data from the metal detector is recorded to the Navigators internal solid-state hard-drive where Shark Marine’s Divelog software correlates it to the position data from the systems multiple navigation sensors. The data is provided to the diver both

Shark Marine Launches D.A.S. Boat
Shark Marine Technologies introduced its newest system for autonomous bathymetric surveying: The DiveLog Automated Survey Boat or D.A.S. Boat. As its name suggests, D.A.S. Boat is controlled by Shark Marine’s DiveLog software. Originally designed to create an intuitive interface for Shark Marine’s Navigator product line, DiveLog is now being used for ROV Control, Diver Delivery System Control, Survey, and Search and Recovery Computer Topsides, as well as Autonomous Surface Vessel Control. DiveLog manages multiple positioning systems, route creation and following, and control of many
