Royal Navy on Target with MASS Simulation System

MetOcean Telematics will supply the Royal Navy with its new Maritime Acoustic Scoring and Simulation System (MASS), an over-the-horizon Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS) and Naval Gunfire Scoring and Simulation (NGSS) system which is designed to eliminate the need for land bombardment ranges and the necessity to destroy physical targets on land or at sea.The free-floating system consists of a set of operation buoys, which report acoustic event data, point of impact, and precise time. The acoustic event data is sent to a base station receiver using overthe-horizon Iridium satellite telemetry or UHF

Forum Unveils eROV Simulator Training

announced on Wednesday that it has now added the eROV to its choice of vehicles within the simulator. The new lightweight and ergonomically designed eROV Hand Controller console can also be interfaced to VMAX to allow pilots to be trained in the use of the new console.The VMAX software is a 3D ROV simulation system which is predominantly used for the training and evaluation of ROV pilots. It can also be utilized by subsea engineering teams for modeling and verification of procedures involving intervention tasks for subsea equipment.The system provides a variety of ROV scenarios designed to test pilots&rsquo

Pipeline Damage Assessment Tool Launched

Tecnitas, the marine advisory arm of leading international classification and verification group Bureau Veritas (BV), has launched a new technology simulation system for pipeline damage assessment, in collaboration with Total. This system, EMPREINTE, helps pipeline operators to determine safe operating pressures after a pipeline is damaged. It is a software suite which provides a decision making tool which, according to BV, aims to save operators money and cut downtime for pipeline repairs. Offshore energy pipelines can sustain all sorts of damage like dents and gouges due to external injuries
