Webtool Cutter Used in Downhole Decommissioning Tool

Allspeeds, manufacturer of Webtool hydraulic cutters, has supplied a downhole cutter for James Fisher Decommissioning’s SEABASS subsea well abandonment tool. The smallest Webtool steel wire cutter so far at just 172mm, it is tightly integrated within the downhole tool to cut mixed material steel wire and hydraulic lines. The SEABASS well abandonment tool is a single trip, mechanically locking system for category 2 wells. Once lowered downhole, the SEABASS perforates single or multiple casing strings. Upper and lower perforation devices create a flow path through the casing to remove contaminants

New Subsea Pipeline Decommissioning Tool

Hydraulic subsea tools specialist Webtool said it is developing a Fast Intervention Tool for subsea pipeline decommissioning in conjunction with Chevron Energy Technology Company. The tool will crimp, seal, and cut the pipe reducing the potential for contamination of the marine environment, potentially removing the requirement for a containment dome during pipeline cutting, and minimizing diver intervention. The Fast Intervention Tool (FIT) is a modular design which combines lifting, crimping, injection and cutting in a single lifting and deployment frame which also contains the hydraulic control system.

New Tool for Subsea Umbilical & Cable Recovery

Hydraulic systems specialist Webtool has introduced a new gripping and lifting tool for recovering subsea umbilical and cable for offshore oil and gas and decommissioning projects. The Cable Retrieval Tool (CRT200), developed in consultation with international certification body and classification society, DNVGL, allows the safe and controlled recovery of damaged cable and umbilical, up to 8” (203 mm) diameter.    Current methods of recovering umbilicals for repair or replacement involve trenching the seabed around the cable or umbilical to allow a double choke sling to be attached

Allspeeds Unveils its Largest Fiber Rope Cutter

Allspeeds has unveiled its largest standard Webtool fiber rope cutter so far: the Webtool SL165 softline ROV tool, capable of cutting soft and fiber ropes up to 165mm diameter. Deployable either on the manipulator arm of a work class ROV or integrated within a maritime handling system, the cutter operates at any water depth. Fiber rope is widely used in subsea anchoring, equipment deployment and construction, as an alternative to steel wire. The need to handle higher loads has prompted the use of larger diameter ropes. In the event the rope needs to be cut, the Webtool guillotine cutting action
