Clinton Debuts New Cable Fault Locator

Clinton Instrument Company introduced the new FL8A battery powered cable fault locator.

The portable unit is designed to find known faults in umbilical and downhole cables when both ends of the cable are available for connection. Once an operator knows the cable has a direct metallic short, a high voltage short that appears only when the cable is under load, or an open conductor, the FL8A can quickly and accurately locate the fault, allowing for repair or removal of the problem area.
