Independent engineering company Red Marine has invested in a range of high pressure test equipment to increase the business’ in-house capability, in a move aiming to drive financial savings for its clients, the company announced.

The investment comes on the back of Red Marine’s expansion into a new test facility four times the size of its previous unit almost one year ago. Since the expansion, the company has reported a record turnover, providing a full turnkey service to major players including the likes of Subsea 7, FMC Technologies and Technip.

Speaking about the investment, Joe Orrell, Managing Director at Red Marine said, “Being extremely aware of the pressures our clients face in the oil and gas industry, now is the right time for us to further enhance our offering. We are always looking at new ways to save our clients time and money – without compromise – and increasing our capabilities allows us to do exactly that.”

“Our new equipment means that we now have greater control and flexibility in our testing operations, and as a result we are driving down the costs for clients whilst continuing to deliver high value test results.”

And the company said it has already demonstrated the effectiveness of its new equipment working alongside the global subsea provider, FMC Technologies, to successfully complete qualification testing of a new landing string valve assembly. The bespoke test program, including a number of high pressure tests, validated the performance of the vent valve to the highest industry standards, according to Re Marine.

The new equipment to enhance Red Marine’s testing capabilities comprises of a number of air-powered liquid pumps allowing for flushing of hydraulic equipment and high pressure testing up to 42,500 psi. An range of 22,500 psi circuit equipment has also been procured including multi-port manifolds, test gauges and control valves right through to pressure relief valves and hose assemblies.

Haydn Ford, Lead Engineer at Red Marine said, “Together with our existing expertise and equipment, including a bespoke pressure test cell, these new additions to our test facility enhance our ability to efficiently design, construct and operate multi-pressure, multifunction control and test circuits in a safe and controlled environment.”

From the development of tailored test programs, to the rapid design and build of bespoke test equipment, right through to completion of testing and analysis of results, the company has the capabilities and experience to deliver turnkey test programs all from under one roof.
