MetOcean Debuts iBCN Beacons

MetOcean Data Systems, designer and producer of data acquisition and remote telemetry systems, introduced the iBCN Iridium beacons as part of its NOVATECH product line. The iBCN products will be onsite at Oceanology International 2014 (MetOcean’s Booth 6 – Stand F300 Atlantic Canada Pavilion) in London, U.K. for its official launch and debut showcase.

The iBCN products are the next-generation of MetOcean’s NOVATECH Iridium beacons, designed for tracking and locating of assets. The self-contained submersible beacons use the bidirectional capabilities of the Iridium satellite telemetry system, allowing end users to receive real-time GPS location of their asset. According to the manufacturer, the iBCN also boasts improved lifetime, a rugged and innovative design and the capability for Iridium and Bluetooth configuration.

“The iBCNs track and locate valuable assets, aiding in essential recovery of oceanographic equipment,” said Robyn Warrier, MetOcean Sales and Marketing. “These Iridium beacons are small but mighty and are designed to exceed any operational lifetime requirements, in the harshest of ocean environments.”

Designed to meet unique deployment needs, the iBCN Iridium beacons offer five battery housing options: self-contained, remote head, OEM, and extended battery life with the option of lithium or alkaline batteries. The NOVATECH Iridium beacons provide peace of mind for those unpredictable deployments.
