Teledyne CARIS announced it is sponsoring the upcoming Map the Gaps GEBCO Symposium in Canberra, Australia on November 14, 2018.

This is a one-day, annual event hosted this year by Geoscience Australia and Land Information New Zealand to discuss innovative technologies and approaches that are pushing the boundaries of ocean floor mapping. The symposium is being held alongside GEBCO’s technical and guiding committee meetings and will contribute to the future directions of the Seabed 2030 world ocean mapping initiative.

Andy Hoggarth, Director of Business Development - Teledyne CARIS, and Co-Chair of the Marine Domain Working Group of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), will be delivering the keynote speech at 9:30 a.m.

His address at the symposium will speak about the importance of data standards to support the interoperability of bathymetry data, as well as discussing the industry’s latest trends such as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for sonar noise removal, and bathymetry management and access through cloud-based web services. Hoggarth brings over 20 years of hands-on experience in the geospatial realm, with a specific emphasis on ocean mapping.
