Trelleborg Achieves O&G Certification in Brazil

Trelleborg’s offshore operation in Macae, Brazil, has been awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification. The standard defines the quality management system requirements for the design, development, production, installation and service of products for the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries.

Alexandre Soares, Manager of Quality at Trelleborg’s manufacturing facility in Macae, said, “The oil and gas industry is by nature one of the most challenging environments in the world, so a high level of business integrity is critical to safely keep operations up and running.”

“Achieving ISO 9001:2008 is in-line with Trelleborg’s commitment to continuous improvement in the industry and in response to our customers’ seeking suppliers with the accreditation,” Soares said. “A challenging standard to meet, our state-of-the-art new facility took two years to gain certification.”

ISO standards are developed and published by the International Organization for Standardization. The certification for the manufacturing facility in Macae covers, design, manufacturing, and installation of polymer-based products or metal composites, mechanical and thermal protection of flexible pipes, umbilical’s, cables and pipes used in the oil and gas industry.
