NOAA Seeks Applicants for Hydrographic Services Advisory Panel Membership

NOAA announced it is seeking candidates for the Hydrographic Services Review Panel, a federal advisory committee that advises the NOAA administrator on the agency's hydrographic programs, products and technology. Japan to Release Fukushima's Contaminated Water Into the Sea

.It is common practice for nuclear plants around the world to release water that contain traces of tritium into the ocean.In April, a team sent by the International Atomic Energy Agency to review contaminated water issues at the Fukushima site said the options for water disposal outlined by an advisory committee in Japan - vapor release and discharges to the sea – were both technically feasible. New Members Join NOAA’s Hydrographic Services Advisory Panel

NOAA acting administrator retired Navy Rear Adm. Tim Gallaudet, Ph.D., has appointed three new members to the Hydrographic Services Review Panel, a federal advisory committee that gives NOAA independent advice for improving a range of services and products that support safe navigation and coastal resilience.   The new members of the panel are: Sean M. Duffy Sr., executive director, Big River Coalition, New Orleans, La. Retired USCG Capt. Ed Page, executive director, Marine Exchange of Alaska, Juneau, Alaska Julie Thomas, senior advisor, Southern California, Coastal Ocean

Scientific Steering Committee: 2003-2007; Chair of the Gordon Research Conference on Coastal Circulation Modeling, 2007; member of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Program (IGBP) Scientific Steering Committee from 2003-2007; member of NSF’s ORION iOSC 2007 & Science and Technology Advisory Committee (STAC) 2005-2007; member of the U.S. GLOBEC Scientific Steering Committee from 2000-2007; co-Chair of the PICES MODEL Task Team, 2001-2007; and member of the International Council for the Exploration of the Seas (ICES) Cod and Climate Change (CCC) Working Group, 1995-2002.

Roan Joins IMCA in North America
