First Subsea Completes Heidelberg Spar Mooring

Deepwater mooring specialist, First Subsea Ltd, has completed the installation of subsea mooring connectors for Anadarko Petroleum Corp's Heidelberg truss spar platform moored in 5,310ft (1,620 m) of water in field development in the Gulf of Mexico.   The 23,000-ton spar has been moored by nine Series III Ballgrab ball and taper mooring connectors attached to polyester mooring lines. BSEE Tests GoM Response Equipment

Exxon Discovers Oil in Guyana Offshore Block

Offshore Oil Company also participating.   Exxon signed an agreement with Guyana to explore the 26,800 square kilometer (10,350 square mile) block, 160 to 320 kilometers (100 to 200 miles) offshore, in 1999.   Guyana in 2013 said Venezuela's navy evicted a ship used by Texas-based Anadarko Petroleum Corp to explore for oil in the offshore Roraima block. Ecopetrol to Drill 3 Wells After Cutting Budget

drill three offshore wells this year, two off its Caribbean Coast and a third in the Gulf of Mexico, after slashing its offshore exploration budget to $200 million down from $632 million last year, the company said. The two Caribbean wells, Calasu and Kronos, will be operated by Texas-based Anadarko Petroleum Corp which has an equal sized stake in the projects with Ecopetrol. Anadarko Petroleum Corp (APC.N) reports a quarterly profit compared with a year-earlier loss, as the U.S. oil and gas company's results were helped by higher natural gas prices, according to Reuters. Anadarko has big offshore oil and gas prospects, but like many other exploration and production companies, the Houston-based Anadarko is also working to increase output of crude from less expensive onshore shale wells in North America.
