Belgium Naval & Robotics, Flanders Ship Repair Join in MCM Program

ECA Group Awarded Sonatrach Contract

ECA Group said it has been awarded a €4 million service contract from the Algerian state-owned oil group Sonatrach for the Arzew natural gas liquefaction plant in Algeria.This contract of more than €4 million provides for the cleaning of the four seawater inlet galleries of the plant thanks to the VISIT submarine system of ECA Group. The powerful 6-ton vehicle equipped with hydraulic tools will clean all the walls of the pipes during Summer 2019.

Peruvian Submarines Set to Receive New Static Converters

ECA Group said it has been awarded a contract under the Peruvian Navy’s submarine modernization program.ECA Group signed a contract with the shipyard SIMA and the Peruvian Navy for the replacement of the 16 units of static converters 115V / 400Hz and 115V / 60Hz aboard four type-U209 v.1200 submarines: BAP Angamos (SS 31), BAP Antofagasta (SS 32), BAP Pisagua (SS 33) and BAP Chipana (SS 34).Peru decided to upgrade four of its Type 209 submarines in 2015 and commenced the nearly seven years long modernization program in 2017.The modernization work, which includes hull separation and modernizing

Expendable Unmanned Vehicle for Mine Countermeasures

ECA Group said it has delivered a full scale development of an integrated solution for mine counter measure as part of a project completed in collaboration with an undisclosed Asian naval partner.   This Southeast Asian navy is changing how it performs mine hunting operations, opting for new unmanned systems instead of 50-meter boats managed by a crew of 40 people. ECA Group to Deliver ROV for Dams Inspection in China

ECA Group said it will provide a H300 remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) to the Guangdong Research Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower, in China, to aid in inspections of hydro-electric dams and related power plant.   Hydraulic dams require inspection, and the use of ROVs help to permit ongoing survey, thus avoiding the emptying the upstream reservoir constraint.   Parts to be monitored and inspected are most frequently the dam wall itself, but also other specific parts like the spillway, the structures – also called "overflow channels" – used to

Future Unmanned Naval Systems for MMCM Program

Thales, BAE Systems and their partner SAAB, ECA Group and ASV Global welcome the confirmation by the Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR) that the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD) and French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) will continue its collaboration for the combined United Kingdom and France MMCM (maritime mine counter measures) program. Initiated in 2010 under a cooperation agreement between France and the United Kingdom, the MMCM program develops a prototype autonomous system for detection and neutralisation of sea mines and underwater improvized explosive devices (UWIEDs).
