Thibodeaux Named President of Fugro Chance

Offshore survey company Fugro Chance Inc. has appointed Blaine Thibodeaux to president. His responsibilities include Fugro’s Gulf of Mexico and Arctic offshore operations, including marine positioning, offshore construction and subsea projects, and international services.   Having begun his career with Fugro’s IT group in 1996, Thibodeaux joined John Chance Land Surveys (a Fugro company) in 1997. As a Division Manager, he oversaw FLI-MAP, the airborne corridor mapping system, collecting thousands of miles of LiDAR data for federal and state agencies and the private sector.   In

The number of requests by operators for 3D visualisation of subsea assets has increased year-on-year and this system is proving to be one of the best on the market,” said Dan Matthews, Commercial Manager at Fugro Chance Houston.

Fugro Chance Tackles Noisy Acoustic Metrology Project

Fugro Chance Inc. provided 3D acoustic metrology on a large 36-inch diameter spool piece, despite environmental and logistical challenges. The highly accurate metrology was performed from a platform in Enlace Litoral Tabasco, Gulf of Mexico at a water depth of 25 meters. Active lines from the platform created a noisy auditory environment and the shallow water depth provided additional challenges in the long baseline (LBL) acoustic operations. Once measurements were finalized, the spool piece was welded to the existing pipeline and then set back down on the seabed. With limited tolerance for such a

Fugro Chance Completes Acoustic Metrology

Fugro Chance Inc. recently performed non-typical acoustic metrologies on four proposed jumpers in the Gulf of Mexico. By industry standards the measurements were completed in a substantially short time frame, the company said. A typical metrology takes approximately 12 hours for one measurement, resulting in an anticipated operational time of around 48 hours in total. However, these non-typical acoustic metrologies were completed with accurate results in just 33 hours. Two standard Sonardyne Compatt 6 transponders and two Sonardyne Lodestar GyroCompatts (LGCs) were used to acquire tilt magnitude

Fugro Chance and Coda Octopus Collaborate in Subsea Imagery

Fugro Chance Inc. and Coda Octopus Group Inc. have entered a Cooperation Agreement for two years to take advantage of Coda Octopus Echoscope; a patented 3D sonar technology. This relationship will give CODA early access to real-world requirements associated with Fugro Chance projects. Having access to the data acquired by Fugro will enable CODA to utilize the Echoscope in a variety of applications and challenges. In return, Fugro will have the advantage of working with CODA to develop tailored solutions for their clients’ subsea imagery deliverables. Coda Echoscope Dual Frequency 3D Sonar
