Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to Start Seabed Surveys for Offshore Wind

The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE) has tasked the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) with conducting surveys in connection with awarding acreage for offshore wind. The NPD has been given the assignment to plan and implement a tendering process for preliminary surveys in the areas of Sørlige Nordsjø II and Utsira Nord, which were opened for applications for renewable energy generation about 18 months ago. These surveys will gather basic seismic, bathymetry, and water column data. The Government is proposing an additional appropriation of NOK 65 million (around $6.

Ocean Infinity Completes Mohns Ridge Survey

subsea technology and data company Ocean Infinity said it has compleetd an expedition on the Mohns Ridge in the north-western Norwegian Sea, on behalf of the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).NPD had been assigned the task of mapping and proving deep sea mineral deposits by the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. Using multiple autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), Ocean Infinity acquired a total of 3,900 kilometers of geophysical seabed data over the four-week expedition, assisted by experts from Ocean Floor Geophysics (OFG). At the same time, remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROV) were
