Kraken Adds Offshore Exec Sam Allen as Advisor

Kraken Robotics announced that it has hired longtime offshore industry executive Sam Allen as a strategic advisor to help the marine technology company refine its strategy for the international offshore energy market.Allen was President of Technip Canada from 1997 to 2012 and headed up Technip Oceania from 2012 until he retired from Technip in 2018.At Kraken, he will focus on landing additional pilot projects and converting pilot projects to longer-term recurring revenue contracts, the company said, adding this may include collaboration with additional industry partners as well as M&A activity

Australia Pressing Yang Ming to Pay for Container Cleanup

(AMSA) says it stepped in to handle the cleanup operations after the Taiwanese shipowner and its insurer Britannia P&I refused to take responsibility for retrieving the containers and associated debris that had scattered for miles along Australia's east coast. In December 2019 AMSA hired Ardent Oceania to perform the salvage work, which began April 3 and concluded on May 8.With the subsea recovery work now completed, AMSA says it intends to recover all associated costs from Yang Ming and its insurers.An investigation led by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) revealed cargo stowage deficienci

First YM Efficiency Containers Retrieved

80 lost from containership YM Efficiency in the Tasman Sea, about 30 kilometers off Australia's east coast, in 2018. To date, 62 containers have been located on the seafloor while another 14 are still missing. UTEC said it has been won a contract from Technip Oceania Pty Ltd, part of TechnipFMC in Australia, to provide survey and positioning services on the Greater Enfield Project, offshore Western Australia.   The work scope includes pre-lay surveys; onshore dimensional control; survey and positioning associated with installation of rigid and flexible flowlines, umbilicals, jumpers, flying leads and subsea structures; as-laid surveys, as-built surveys and final reporting.   The Greater Enfield Project will develop the Laverda Canyon, Norton over Laverda (WA-59-L) and Cimatti (WA-28-L) oil

DOF Vessel Awarded Prelude FLNG Work

TechnipFMC in Australia awards contract for the supply of MSV Geoholm to DOF's subsidiary DOF Subsea   The DOF Group said its subsidiary DOF Subsea Australia Pty Ltd has been awarded a contract by Technip Oceania Pty Ltd, part of TechnipFMC in Australia, for the provision of multipurpose support vessel (MSV) Geoholm for the Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project, operated by Shell Australia.   The Geoholm will be required to provide remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) and light construction support services to TechnipFMC in Australia for the Prelude FLNG Water

Thales Awarded Collins Sonar Upgrade Design

Hon Christopher Pyne MP, today announced that Thales Australia has been awarded a $100 million contract  to design a major sonar system upgrade for Collins class submarines.   Minister Pyne said Thales Australia will engage other Australian-based companies including Sonartech Atlas and L3 Oceania, as well as suppliers from the United Kingdom (UK) and France to design the Collins sonar system upgrade.    "The sonar system upgrade will install improved sonar sensor arrays aboard each of the Collins submarines, as well as improved signal processing systems," Minister
