SRO Updates Stena Drilling's Rigs with IBM’s Maximo System
Offshore drilling contractor Stena Drilling has had its asset management software system on six offshore rigs replaced.The company hired UK-based tech firm SRO Solutions which, over the course of 14 months replaced its existing asset management system with IBM’s Maximo software. McDermott, CB&I Shareholders Approve Merger
McDermott International shareholders on Tuesday approved a merger with Chicago Bridge & Iron Co that creates a vertically integrated onshore and offshore engineering and construction company, thwarting an attempt by offshore drilling contractor Subsea 7 to block the deal.More than 50 percent of McDermott shareholders supported the deal and approved a 3-to-1 reverse stock split, according to a spokesman. CB&I shareholders also voted in favor the merger, the companies said, and the combination is expected to close on May 10.Shares of CB&I were up about 6 percent, trading at around $16.

Kongsberg Maritime says that Ocean Rig UDW Inc., a major international offshore drilling contractor, has chosen it to supply an extensive offshore and navigation simulator package for a brand new training centre. Kongsberg explains that Ocean Rig owns and operates two ultra-deepwater semi-submersible drilling rigs and nine ultra-deepwater drill-ships (including three newbuilds for delivery 2014-2016). All of these vessels operate with key technology from KONGSBERG, including Dynamic Positioning, Thruster Control, Integrated Control and Automation, Safety/Fire & Gas and Riser Management systems.
