FerryBox Helps Track Climate Change Effects
all in one solution for precise and continuous measurements of sea water from (moving) platforms such as merchant ships and ferries, as well as manned or unmanned research stations in remote regions. The FerryBox system on the Yaghan ferry measures water temperature, oxygen, salinity, chlorophyll-a, pCO2 concentration, pH, nitrate, crude oil, yellow substance, and turbidity. It also includes a set of radiometers provided by the ICBM (Uni. Oldenburg) installed on the bridge of the ship, to measure optical properties of the water. The Yaghan ferry FerryBox will analyse sea water samples every minute
Tracking Climate Change onboard SeaExplorer
An innovative tool for assessing the impact of climate change in the ocean: measuring pCO2 at sea with the SeaExplorer underwater gliderUnderstanding the ocean’s role in the global carbon cycle and its response to a changing environment is of crucial interest. The ocean is indeed known to be the only true net sink for anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) and without this oceanic uptake, atmospheric CO2 would be significantly higher today than what is currently observed. The impact of this ocean acidification can already be perceived and current projections suggest that those changes will persist
Planet Ocean Inks Distribution Deal with 4H-JENA
announced the signing of an exclusive distribution agreement with -4H-JENA engineering GmbH, Germany for the UK and Ireland.Following the purchase of the CONTROS range of instruments by -4H-JENA has announced that as well as continuing to offer the range of CONTROS dissolved gas technology for CH4, CO2, PCO2, pH and Total Alkalinity; Planet Ocean will also be introducing the other -4H-JENA range of marine technology products.-4H-JENA produce custom FerryBox systems for installation in vessels, designed to suit each individual application with sensors, processing telemetry and mechanical configuration

used to detect turbidity. Custom optical configurations are also available. Package configurations include submersible, handheld, field, laboratory, online, and ready for integration into vehicles. In addition, two years ago we expanded our product family beyond fluorescence to include absorption and pCO2 sensors. The MTR100 is Marine Technology Reporter's Annual report on 100 leading companies in the subsea industry, published in the July/August 2015 edition of MTR - http://www.marinetechnologynews.com/Magazin
Turner Designs, PME Launch C-sense Logger
Turner Designs introduced a submersible logger designed to work with its C-sense pCO2 sensor. Designed by water quality instrument design corporation Precision Measurement Engineering, Inc. (PME), the C-sense Logger package records time, date, internal temperature and the partial pressure of gas in liquids. C-sense enables in situ pCO2 monitoring over an extended period of time in water, oil or water and oil mixtures in depths up to 600m. Applications include water quality monitoring, aquaculture, wastewater monitoring, reef monitoring, carbon capture storage monitoring and biofuel production.

a multi-disciplinary Jason ROV operation in the Pacific NW. The science sonar pod on the hull of the vessel houses a Kongsberg EM122 (1x1 array) MB system, a Knudsen 3.5kHz Chirp SBP, and a Teledyne 75 Hz ADCP. In addition, we deploy towed magnetometers, an onboard gravimeter, and routinely make surface pCO2 measurements with an uncontaminated seawater system
MTR 100: Turner Designs
Of Employees: 25 The Case: Turner Designs recently introduced several products addressing what it perceived as gaps in offerings available to the marine community – ICAM, an in situ absorption instrument requiring little or no correction for scattering; C-sense, a low cost, lightweight, low power pCO2 sensor; and Ballast-Check, a field-ready, handheld instrument for ballast water compliance monitoring. The Company Turner Designs provides innovative optical-based solutions for environmental research and monitoring, water quality analysis, and pollution control analysis. Having a unique focus on
Planet Ocean to Host Free Workshop
Ocean said it invites marine scientists with an interest in dissolved gases and ocean acidification to this workshop where it will provide a mixture of presentations on key topical research and hands on experience using current sensor technology. Topics include an introduction to the carbonate system and pCO2 measurements, total alkalinity, DO, CH4, pH and other dissolved gases. The first series of workshops will be held at the following locations: Monday, July 14 - National Oceanography Center Southampton (NOC) Tuesday, July 15 - Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) Thursday, July 17 -
