The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NAS) will hold the third meeting of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Standing Committee on Offshore Science and Assessment on July 11 and 12, 2016, in Washington, D.C.

The agenda will cover strategic research priorities from the BOEM regional perspective and how they fit into BOEM’s mission and goals; defining metrics for meeting strategic priorities and research goals; the peer-review process for competitive proposal selection and completed research; and presentations by academic experts on Arctic sea-ice modeling and forecasting needs and advances.

The committee encompasses a broad range of expertise in both natural and social sciences, relevant disciplines within those broad areas and collective expertise from academia, industry, government and the nonprofit world in all four Outer Continental Shelf regions.
