FairfieldNodal Chairman to Retire

FairfieldNodal announces that its chairman, Dr. William A. Schneider, Sr., has elected to retire after more than 33 years of service. Walter Pharris has been named the new chairman, and he will continue to serve as FairfieldNodal’s president and CEO, positions he has held for the past 21 years.

Dr. Schneider, Sr., built a distinguished career in the energy industry that has spanned more than 50 years, beginning with his work at Geophysical Services Inc., where he was part of the team instrumental in the introduction of commercial 3D seismic. He left GSI in 1980 to found Golden Geophysical Corporation. Dr. Schneider served as president of the company until Fairfield Maxwell purchased it seven years later, at which time he became senior vice president.

In 1991, he was named president and chief operating officer of Fairfield Industries Incorporated. Two years later, Dr. Schneider was named chairman of the board, the position he held for more than three decades.

Aside from sharing his technical prowess to advance Fairfield Industries’ capabilities, Dr. Schneider was a professor at the Colorado School of Mines, where he taught geophysics and advised graduate students at the masters and PhD level for seven years.

He was also an active member of global professional organizations, including the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE). Over his illustrious career, Dr. Schneider authored and coauthored numerous articles and earned 10 patents relating to seismic methods.
