CDL Pursues Joint Venture with 3D at Depth
CDL, a provider of subsea monitoring equipment, said it has joined forces with 3D at Depth, underwater LiDAR system specialists, to create a joint venture. The partnership reinforces the commitment of both companies to support the growing needs of the subsea oil and gas industry.
By combining the technical innovation of 3D at Depth with the significant market presence of CDL, the joint venture will allow the two companies to introduce a comprehensive range of underwater scanning technology.
CDL and 3D at Depth have been working together for quite some time on CDL’s most recent product launch - INSCAN, the world’s 3D scanning subsea laser designed for use in the oil and gas industry.
The new laser scanning technology offers subsea angle and range measurements at tens of meters with proven sub-centimeter accuracy. The resulting 3D point cloud can be viewed at the surface within minutes of a scan. Application uses such as Brown field scanning/as-builts, metrology functions, pipeline inspections and change error detection are available now. Expect to also add vibration measurement to INSCAN’s function list in 2014. The sensor is mountable on ROV/AUV systems and Static sea floor tooling frames to suit all applications of subsea measurements.
