A group of students participating in the GIS-Hydrography module of the HCU Masters program in Geomatics, were invited to attend a workshop at the SevenCs’ office in Hamburg on May 5, 2014. The course was an introduction to the production of S-57 data by means of SevenCs ENC Tools. Attendees could experience hands –on training to gain insight into the production of Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs).

Jochen Rudolph, Managing Director of SevenCs and ChartWorld commented, “Having the HCU on our doorstep provides us a fantastic opportunity to gain insight into the world of digital cartography related to maritime navigation. We value and enjoy the contact with students which brings both vital and mutual exchanges of information. It ends up being a win-win-situation for both parties.” Prof. Markéta Pokorná from HCU added, “It is great to see the Industry-University cooperation happen so quickly. The students enjoyed the day and we all share the same enthusiasm for the exciting field of digital hydrographic maritime information.”

Students of the HCU Masters program in Geomatics (with specialisation in Hydrography) who want to deepen their knowledge or require some of the software for their research, can utilise the SevenCs ENC Tools especially provided for academic purposes.

HCU and SevenCs are looking forward to enriching their cooperation in the future.
