bring powerful new capabilities to vessel operators worldwide. Driving safer, more efficient, and more sustainable offshore operations is core to Miros’ being, and this MoU further solidifies that mission,” said Marius Five Aarset, CEO of Miros.MT, which is owned by the same group as Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) and acts as its in-house marine electronics provider, supports a fleet of roughly 300 vessels operating mainly in the Gulf of Mexico and Brazil.Under the MoU, Miros’ Wavex systems will be pre-installed for activation within MT’s dynamic positioning systems and offered
Belgian Energy Island in North Sea Starts Taking Shape (Video)
TM Edison, a consortium of Belgian marine construction companies DEME and Jan De Nul, has installed the first two of a total 23 caissons in the Belgian North Sea, marking the start of construction for the Princess Elisabeth Island, the ‘world’s first’ artificial energy island.Caissons are concrete building blocks that form the outline of the future island. In a later phase, the interior will be filled with sand to build high-voltage infrastructure that will connect new offshore wind farms.TM Edison is carrying out the work on behalf of grid operator Elia Transmission Belgium (Elia).
C-Innovation Awarded IMR Contract from BP
Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) affiliate C-Innovation (C-I) on Monday announced it has signed a new three-year contract with bp for field development, and inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) work. The contract, which has options for two one-year extensions, is for the provision of two subsea construction vessels, C-Constructor and Holiday, and access to a fleet of specialized subsea and supply vessels. It also includes project management, engineering, equipment, logistics and port services. The C-Constructor and Holiday are both light construction vessels equipped with 150 MT subsea cranes and two

C-Innovation Names Cribley Business Development Manager
Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) affiliate C-Innovation (C-I) has welcomed back Lucas Cribley as its new business development manager.During his more than 20-year career, Cribley worked as the program manager and first employee in a joint venture start-up between ECO and FMC Technologies, in which he secured and managed major Inspection, Maintenance, & Repair (IMR), light construction, and Riserless Light Well Intervention (RWLI) projects. As a senior manager at TechnipFMC, Cribley helped lead the development and delivery of new business lines in Life of Field (LoF) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV).
Ørsted to Deploy Rutter's Wave Prediction Tech on CTVs
;s contracted fleet will commence throughout 2023.As part of their agreement, Canada-based Rutter and Denmark-based Ørsted will continue to advance the research of radar wave prediction in offshore wind park construction and operations to further enhance safety. Rutter's president, Fraser Edison, said, “Our unwavering commitment to enhancing offshore worker safety and pioneering innovative technologies drives our constant pursuit of being a leader in innovative radar technologies. We eagerly anticipate the continuing deployment of our systems on Ørsted’s CTV fleet, marking
Bollinger Launches OSU's New Oceanographic Research Vessel
, dean of OSU’s College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences, which is overseeing the effort for the university. “We are grateful that the National Science Foundation has entrusted us to lead this project.”The launch was led by Bollinger, which worked with LaShip, a subsidiary of Edison Chouest Offshore. Taani was floated for the first time on May 18 using a drydock.Once the ship’s hull was submerged five feet, teams of inspectors closely examined the interior for any leaks before completing the launch. The vessel, which is not yet under its own power, was then towed by a
C-Innovation Brings Remote Survey Service to Gulf of Mexico
Edison Chouest Offshore's affiliate C-Innovation has, through its C-Survey (C-S) division, brought its remote survey operations to the Gulf of Mexico for the first time, after two years of successful operation in Guyana.According to C-Innovation, remote surveys enable C-S to be fully operational 24/7 without personnel being onboard a vessel, eliminating associated travel time and expenses, offshore health and safety exposure, and the need for COVID-19 related measures.Credit: C-Innovation"After two years of successful operations in Guyana, C-S has now successfully completed its first biological

Some buoyancy materials overcome the pressure by specific gravity and bulk modulus, other buoyancy materials do it by displacement and the compressive strength of the material. We’ll discuss all of these elements in the course of this column. Like Edison’s ratio of inspiration-to-perspiration, our profession calls it R&D, with emphasis on the D.The concept of ocean landers/free vehicles for geophysical research was first proposed in 1938 in a brilliant paper by Maurice Ewing (Lamont) and Allyn Vine (WHOI), titled “Deep-Sea Measurements
