Wave-Wind Offshore Platform with Hydrogen: Floating Power Plant's SEAWORTHY Selected for EU Grant

Danish technology developer and integrator Floating Power Plant A/S said Tuesday it had been selected to negotiate a significant grant by the European Commission to support its SEAWORTHY project at the PLOCAN test site.SEAWORTHY is an acronym for "Sustainable dispatchable Energy enabled by wAve-Wind OffshoRe plaTforms with onboard HYdrogen." Floating Power Plant said SEAWORTHY was an initiative aimed at combining wave and wind resources to generate electricity while using excess power to produce and store hydrogen. The SEAWORTHY project will be executed off the coast of Las Palmas in the

Ex-MHI Vestas Offshore Wind CEO Joins Floating Power Plant

Former CEO of MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, Jens Tommerup, joins the board of the Danish renewable energy technology company Floating Power Plant.Floating Power Plant, which is developing a combined wind and wave device, said Monday Tommerup believed floating offshore wind would be an important part of the future energy transition. He said: "I find the FPP-design of combining wind and wave energy intriguing. Utilizing the floater for energy storage or power-to-X units creates many opportunities to further improve the business case for offshore wind while also opening new market segments and business

The test rig uses a large hydraulic cylinder to simulate the motion from incoming waves. This allows thorough testing of the
Power Take Off (PTO) system on dry land. The PTO is the part of FPPs technology that transform wave motions into electricity.

Danish Firm Working on 'World's largest' Wave Power Test Facility

Denmark-based clean-tech company Floating Power Plant (FPP) said Friday it was building what it said was "the biggest wave energy PTO (Power Take-off) test bench in the world."The company is collaborating with Fritz Schur Energy, Seasystems, and Aalborg University in Denmark. "The project just received 10,81 million DKK (about 1,5 million €) in funding from the Danish energy authorities (EUDP). The test facility is expected to be finished in March 2022, and it will produce test data the following years, that will be used, when FPP launches combined wind- and wave power facilitie

look forward to start construction by the end of June”, says Head Advisor IP Strategy and Asset Management in Statkraft, Tom Kristian Larsen. In this first phase, Ocean Sun will deliver a complete floating 0.5 MWp DC system based on their innovative design for floating solar technology. The floating power plant will be constructed in collaboration between Ocean Sun and Statkraft, and is expected to be finalized in Q4 2020.Subject to the first unit performing in accordance with requirements, Statkraft will proceed with the second phase of the project, which will add additional three floating 0.5 MWp

The Switch to Deliver Full-Power Converter for Floating Power Plant

Vancouver-based Water Wall Turbine Inc. (WWT) has selected The Switch to provide a 500 kW full-power converter for its self-floating power plant. This new system extracts potential and kinetic energy from large, fast moving water currents for conversion into electric energy. The Switch will supply its first 500 kW full-power converter in October 2014 for WWT’s prototype project, which will be used for the Dent Island Resort, near Vancouver Island off the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. System testing of the integrated equipment is planned for the first quarter of 2015. The vessel
