Sweden’s MMT announced it has been awarded a contract to perform cable route survey for the subsea Cobra Cable between the Netherlands and Denmark.

Commenting upon the contract award MMT’s CCO, Ellen Svestad, said, “We are really pleased over another contract award from Prysmian. The COBRA cable is the planned subsea Interconnector between the Netherlands and Denmark and is managed by two of our existing clients, namely TenneT and Energinet - the operators of the Dutch and the Danish power transmission grids.”

The contract, which will see work commence in July 2016, includes inshore and offshore parts, consisting of geophysical, geotechnical and visual surveys including cable tracker for cable crossings.

MMT said it will conduct the surveys with its own ROTV, ROV and survey vessels Franklin, Seabeam and Ping.
The annual Oceanographic issue explores deep sea oxygen research, sonar technology, carbon sequestration, and subsea defense trends.
