Minesto Adds Management, Development Staff
Nordic marine energy technology leader Minesto, with a marine power plant that is able to cost efficiently produce electricity from low velocity tidal and ocean currents, has appointed Dr. Heije Westberg as the company’s new Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Heije Westberg has previously been Manager for the Department of Energy Conversion at Volvo Technology AB and Technology Advisor for Energy Efficiency & Environment within Advanced Technology & Research at Volvo Group Trucks Technology.
DNV Publishes Oil and Gas Safety Report
In the report entitled Enhancing offshore safety and environmental performance, DNV suggests critical levers to provide a more holistic safety framework across the oil and gas industry. TGS Begins Chukchi Sea Seismic Survey
TGS has commenced acquisition of a 2D multi-client survey in the Chukchi Sea off the northwest coast of Alaska. The Chukchi Sea 2D 2013 survey covers approximately 8,000 km and builds on the existing Chukchi Sea (CSR-06) survey acquired in 2006 in Russian waters and the AWI Chukchi Sea (AWI08) survey acquired in 2008. "TGS is very pleased to be back in the Chukchi Sea," stated Rod Starr, Senior Vice President Western Hemisphere for TGS.
Wireline Engineering Reports Continued Global Growth
Aberdeen-based Wireline Engineering said it is continuing its global expansion, with £1.9 million of new projects secured in key regions during the first half of 2013. The firm develops original wireline and well intervention technologies for the oil and gas industry worldwide. Key contracts have been secured in North America, Southeast Asia, West Africa and the Middle East, reflecting Wireline Engineering’s ambitions to continue extending its geographical footprint.
UTEC Geomarine Announces BP Quad 204 Geotechnical Survey Success
UTEC Geomarine has announced the successful completion of a significant geotechnical survey program in the West of Shetland region. The work was carried out for BP on their Quad 204 development and involved the utilization of UTEC Geomarine’s unique and innovative ROV-deployed geoROV™ CPT and sampling system. GE Technology to Power Massive Crane Vessel
A recent partnership between Sembcorp Marine and GE aims realize one of the most challenging offshore projects in recent times for Heerema’s new Semi-Submersible Crane Vessel (SSCV) Sleipnir, which at 220 meters long and 102 meters wide, will be the world’s largest crane vessel. Equipped with two cranes, each boasting a lifting capacity of 10,000 tons, Sleipnir will be used for offshore construction and heavy lifting.
