Fugro has further extended its technology leadership in the field of GNSS augmentation systems for offshore positioning applications with the launch of its G4 service. The new satellite correction service is the first to take advantage of all four GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems): GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo. GNSS augmentation services significantly improve position accuracy compared to unaided GNSS receivers, which are commonly used in the consumer sector.

USCG, NOAA Place Weather Buoy off California
Coast Guard, NOAA work together to place weather buoy in Northern Calif. The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Aspen coordinated with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to replace a faulty weather buoy 25 miles off the coast of Half Moon Bay, Calif., Thursday. Designated “3D69/46012”, the 3,500 pound, 18 feet high by 9 feet wide weather buoy is designed to measure wind speed, air and water temperatures, barometric pressure, and wave height and periods.

Transmark Subsea Acquires WiSub
Transmark Subsea announced on Tuesday it has acquired fellow Norwegian underwater environment company WiSub.Transmark Subsea manufactures cable systems for distribution of electrical signals, power and fiber optics to the offshore subsea industry, WiSub supplies patented flexible wet-mate pinless underwater connection systems. Both companies have been key equipment and service providers to underwater intervention drone (UID) docking stations since 2018.

Wärtsilä Gas Units Selected for Largest Ever Spar Platform
A new spar platform being built for Statoil's Aasta Hansteen field off the coast of Norway will feature Wärtsilä's Inert Gas and Nitrogen Generator systems, the power solutions company said. The contract has been issued in the first quarter 2014 by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) of South Korea, the yard building the platform. The Wärtsilä Inert Gas Generator will utilize titanium in its construction, the first time ever that this material has been used in such a system.
