TE SubCom Launches New NOC Solution

TE Connectivity Ltd. company TE SubCom has launched a new global network operations center (NOC) solution designed to provide cable operators with a single source for fault, configuration, alarm, performance, security and maintenance network management. SubCom’s primary and secondary NOC solutions are vendor-neutral and able to conform to customer requirements, integrating seamlessly into operational flow. Cable operators depending on the long-term viability of their networks will now have global 24x7x365 monitoring coverage and both high-level and regional visibility into their networks’ status.

SubCom’s NOC solution has already been selected for the Monet Submarine Cable, a 10,556km cable that is owned and operated by Algar Telecom (a Brazilian telecom company and ISP), Angola Cables (a multinational telecom company operating in the wholesale market), ANTEL (the Uruguayan telecom company) and Google. In the U.S., this new 6-fiber-pair cable system was landed at Boca Raton, and, once the system is live, neighboring cable systems will extend Monet’s capacity beyond Miami to other North American locations. In Brazil, Monet was landed in Fortaleza and Praia Grande near Sao Paulo for distribution of traffic into South America.

NOC services is one of several new solutions available to SubCom customers that address the ever-evolving challenges of undersea cable operation and maintenance.

“With the ongoing surge in undersea cable investment, more operators are searching for reliable network operations services. They’re finding they need providers that truly understand undersea networks and how to optimize their life cycles,” said Don Rotunno, managing director, sales operations, TE SubCom. “Undersea communications is SubCom’s business and the expertise we’ve amassed over decades in the industry will immediately benefit users of our new NOC solution. Cable owners should have assurance that their networks are healthy and maintained, and SubCom is the ideal organization to provide that peace of mind.”

Capabilities of SubCom’s NOC include:
  • Global, 24x7x365 coverage
  • Full vendor-neutral capabilities
  • Visibility of the network status at global and regional levels, along with proven security technologies and management processes developed exclusively by SubCom; customized support levels that meet customers’ specific monitoring requirements and service desk trouble ticket management and customized reporting capabilities
