Working in partnership with a global energy company one of the North East’s leading independent engineering companies has successfully delivered a series of subsea clamps for installation at one of the U.K.’s largest offshore wind farms.

Red Marine – based in Hexham – developed a bespoke clamp unit to meet the client’s specific operational requirements. From initial concept development, through to prototype testing and manufacture of four production units, the robust clamp solution was fully developed and tested in-house.

Speaking about the project, Joe Orrell, Managing Director at Red Marine said, “Having the capabilities and experience to efficiently deliver such intensive projects means that we can save our clients time and money by delivering intelligent engineering solutions to their specific project challenges.”

Working closely with the client project team, prototype testing was completed at Red Marine’s test facility to review, develop and de-risk the proposed installation methodology.

Having recently launched a new state of the art testing facility – four times the size of its previous workshop - Orrell said, “Our expanded test facilities has further strengthened our capability to quickly deliver effective and reliable subsea clamping solutions.”

To ensure a service life of 25 years, the clamps are manufactured from high grade materials including components machined from Inconel 625.
